The Centenary Motorway exit 33 closures continue to impact Springfield commuters, with MP Charis Mullen confirming that work is underway to stabilize the landslide-affected area.
Traffic Troubles: Exit 33 & Exit 32 Updates
A major landslide in January forced the closure of the Centenary Motorway on-ramp at Springfield Central, leading to increased congestion—particularly during peak hours.
“The landslide has blocked the entire road and caused safety concerns,” MP Mullen explained. “The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) has completed safety assessments and is now working to clear the site.”
Efforts are being made to reopen the off-ramp from Brisbane as soon as possible. Meanwhile, work on the exit 32 duplication project is also experiencing delays due to batter stabilization.
“We expect completion in March, weather permitting,” said Mullen. “TMR has also committed to reviewing and optimizing the new traffic light timings at the intersection to ease congestion.”
Jordan Grants Information Night—Helping Community Groups Apply
On a lighter note, local community groups, not-for-profits, and small businesses are invited to the Jordan Grants Information Night on February 26 at 6 PM at the YMCA Springfield Lakes Community Centre.
This mini-expo style event will feature key grant providers, including Ipswich and Logan City Councils, Energex, RACQ, and CS Energy.
“We want groups to feel confident applying for grants,” said Mullen. “A simple, straightforward application in your own words can make all the difference.”
As an extra incentive, attendees will go into the draw for a $500 prize for their organization. Plus, a pizza dinner will be provided by Il Piatto Pizzeria.
