Caragh Bradbery stops by the West Bremer Radio studio to chat about the Working Bee On Bell Street.

Registrations for Working Bee on Bell Street are now open and we are calling for the community to be part of the clean up and revitalisation of Bell Street in Ipswich Central. Local organiser, Ipswich Central Partnerships Group are asking residents, business owners and investors to get involved in the Working Bee on Bell St on Sunday 28 November 2021 between 8.00 – 11.00 am This event is the first initiative of the Ipswich Central Partnerships Group with support from Ipswich City Council and partnering with Clean Up Australia Day The Working Bee on Bell St is the chance for the Ipswich community to get hands on, put feet on the ground and help play a small and practical part in revitalising one of our cities major streets.

Bell Street is the gateway into our beautiful city for the community and visitors using public transport and right now it needs some extra care… This is our opportunity as a community to reimagine what we want the first impression of our city to be. With the community’s recent call for change on social media, we think this is the ideal way to build on momentum and draw the community’s attention to the issues and needs of this street, in a proactive and positive way. Working Bee on Bell St will be focused on cleaning up the street, removing graffiti and painting to help give us a fresh canvas to start from for future projects.

We are calling for businesses, organisations and community members to get their gloves on, and help transform the street in just a few hours! Sign up to participate through Clean Up Australia Day (https://www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au/fundraisers/WorkingBeeOnBell/working-bee-on-bell) and then it’s as simple as coming along on the day. Alternatively if you can’t help physically on the day there are other ways to get involved, such as providing resources or funding for future projects on the street. We would love to hear your ideas! We recommend you wear a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and closed in shoes. If you have them please bring gloves and a scrubbing brush too. With plenty to do, we will be able to find a way for you to get involved.
