This morning on The Breakky Club, we celebrated Ipswich’s thriving arts scene with a very special 2024 Get Your Arts Into Gear Awards. Hosted by Glen Smith and Sparky, the awards honoured the incredible work of local artists, creatives, and community groups who made 2024 a standout year for arts in Ipswich.


The Winners

🏆 Best in Literature

  • Winner: Tony Risen for Whatever It Takes: The Beaumont Story.
  • “Thank you for spotlighting the transport industry and making it a riveting read!”

🏆 Best Comedy Production

  • Winner: Bondi Legal by Ipswich Little Theatre.
  • “A comedic hit! Congratulations to Chris Green for directing this memorable show.”

🏆 Best Drama Production

  • Winner: It’s A Wonderful Life by Switch Up Productions.
  • “This heartfelt adaptation touched so many lives. Well done to Adrian Carr and team!”

🏆 Best Musical Production

  • Winner: The Drowsy Chaperone by Switch Up Productions.
  • “An award magnet, well-deserved recognition for Adrian Carr and Simone.”

🏆 Best Individual Art Exhibition

  • Winner: Cynthia Copley and Amy Stapleton at Ipswich Community Gallery.
  • “A breathtaking showcase of creativity that truly captivated audiences.”

🏆 Best Local Art Competition

  • Winner: Ipswich Show Fine Arts & Photography Section.
  • “A spectacular celebration of local talent—well done to all contributors!”

🏆 Best Community Group Exhibition

  • Winner: Off the Wall by Arts Connect Ipswich.
  • “Uniting 45 local artists and the community for an unforgettable showcase!”

Final Thoughts

The team wrapped up with gratitude for the guests, collaborators, and listeners who made Get Your Arts Into Gear a resounding success this year. Glen hinted at even bigger plans for 2025, with exciting exhibitions and initiatives already in the works.
