In a significant operation responding to an animal welfare complaint, RSPCA Queensland Inspectors, accompanied by council and Queensland Police, have seized 183 dogs and puppies from an alleged puppy farm in South East Queensland.
The rescue operation unfolded on Tuesday, April 23, following reports of a large number of dogs living in substandard conditions on the property in question.
Upon arrival, RSPCA Inspectors, along with animal care and veterinary staff, conducted thorough assessments of all animals on the premises. As a result, the decision was made to remove the 183 dogs and puppies from the property, transporting them to RSPCA Queensland custody.
At the RSPCA facilities, these animals are receiving the necessary care tailored to their individual medical and behavioral requirements.
While the case is currently under investigation, RSPCA Queensland emphasizes the importance of public vigilance in reporting animal welfare concerns. Individuals who suspect instances of animal mistreatment are encouraged to contact the RSPCA on 1300 ANIMAL or submit an animal welfare complaint via the RSPCA Qld website.
In light of this rescue operation, RSPCA Queensland urges prospective pet owners to conduct thorough research before purchasing animals, advocating for adoption as a primary consideration. They advise potential buyers to seek out reputable breeders, visit breeding facilities, and ensure that high standards of care and living conditions are maintained for the animals.
For those contemplating adding a new furry friend to their family, the RSPCA offers valuable resources such as the Smart Puppy Buying Guide (https://www.rspcapuppyguide.com.au/) and Smart Kitten Buyers Guide, providing essential information to guide responsible pet acquisition decisions.

These people should be prosecuted and banned for life, for animal cruelty.

Absolutely heart breaking. What on earth is the RSPCA going to do with that many puppies. The poor mothers. Thank heavens they have been found. đź’”

I purchased a beautiful puppy from this breeder in 2023 and met with the owner. She seemed so passionate and invested 3 hours in guiding me on how to best care for my puppy, how to get him home safely. I am shocked to read this article. After 3 hours of meeting with her and talking, it was clear to me that she loved her dogs and wanted the best for them. I’m stunned! I hope she wasn’t reported by competitor breeders as I know it can be a very bitchy and competitive industry. My heart goes out to Neva!
