This Saturday’s edition of the All Abilities Hour on West Bremer Radio was a lively celebration of birthdays, performances, and upcoming adventures. Host Patty, from Focal Community Services, who was in a festive mood after celebrating her birthday, was joined by friends Crystal and Darelle, who also celebrated their birthdays on the same day.

The show kicked off with Crystal discussing her excitement about an upcoming performance with her dance troupe at the Fresh Futures Market, which will be held on September 4th at the Ipswich Showgrounds. “We are performing ‘Better Place’ by Trolls,” Crystal shared. The Fresh Futures Market is an annual event that brings together various organisations in Ipswich to assist individuals transitioning out of school, offering them learning opportunities and community connections.

Despite the busy schedule, Crystal and her troupe have been diligently rehearsing for the event. “We’ve been practicing a lot, and we feel ready,” she said with confidence. Derelle, usually a performer alongside Crystal, will miss this event due to an exciting trip to New Zealand. It’s Derelle’s first visit to the country, and she’s thrilled about seeing the famous “Lord of the Rings” filming locations and visiting family.

The discussion highlighted the joy and opportunities available to everyone, regardless of abilities. As Darelle’s plans showed, support workers and family members can help make travel and new experiences possible, enhancing the lives of those they support.

As the show wrapped up, Patty teased next week’s episode, which will feature representatives from Help Enterprises discussing employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Tune in next Saturday from midday on West Bremer Radio for more uplifting stories and community updates.
