Ipswich celebrated Disability Action Week with a special episode of The All Ability Hour on West Bremer Radio, featuring Amanda and Angela from Aussie Angels Nursing and Disability Services. The duo highlighted their organisation’s role in empowering individuals with disabilities in the Ipswich region and beyond.

Supporting Independence Through Care
Aussie Angels offers a wide range of services, including in-home nursing care, community access support, and specialized disability accommodation (SDA). “One of our key services is providing in-home community nurses, which helps participants avoid hospital visits,” explained Amanda. Their offerings include wound care, continence assessments, catheter maintenance, and comprehensive healthcare evaluations.

Highlighting their impact, Angela shared a success story of a paraplegic client with complex needs who, under their 24/7 care, has avoided hospital admissions since August. “This is what drives us—giving participants the care they need to live fuller lives,” she said.

Mental Health and High-Intensity Support
The organisation also excels in supporting behavioural needs and mental health challenges. With a mental health specialist on staff, Aussie Angels provides two-to-one support for participants requiring intensive care.

Disability Action Week and Focal’s Christmas Party
Host Patty also discussed the broader importance of Disability Action Week, emphasising how the NDIS has transformed lives by offering independence and voice to individuals with disabilities.

Listeners were reminded about Focal’s Christmas Party, taking place Tuesday at the Beacon Community Centre from 5–7 p.m. The community event will feature circus entertainers, Santa, the Grinch, and performances by Focal’s dance and performing arts troupes.
