School holidays are in full swing, and Limelight Cinemas Ipswich has something for everyone—from kids and families to thrill-seekers and music lovers. DJ Sparky caught up with Lex from Limelight for this week’s Brekkie Club cinema rundown.
While Minecraft and Dogman continue to entertain younger audiences, this week’s major releases shift toward more mature themes. First up is Death of a Unicorn, a darkly hilarious ecological satire starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega. The quirky plot follows a father-daughter duo who accidentally hit a unicorn with their car, triggering corporate and ethical chaos.
For action lovers, The Amateur stars Oscar-winner Rami Malek as a CIA decoder-turned-avenger after his wife is killed in a terrorist attack. “It’s intense and gripping,” Lex said.
Faith-based films also feature prominently ahead of Easter. The King of Kings, an animated retelling of the life of Jesus through a father-son story, is perfect for children. Meanwhile, The Chosen: The Last Supper brings a special episode from the popular TV series to the big screen, focusing on Jesus’ confrontation with religious corruption.
One of the most talked-about releases is Bad Genius, a high-stakes academic thriller about a straight-A student who creates an international cheating ring. “It’s smart, sharp, and full of clever twists,” Lex said.
Rounding out the lineup is André Rieu: Power of Love, a special cinematic celebration of the king of waltz’s 75th birthday, set against the scenic backdrop of Maastricht.
With a packed schedule and holiday crowds, Lex recommends booking tickets online early. “It’s busy—book ahead to grab your favourite seats.”
Limelight’s lineup is as diverse as it is entertaining, making it the go-to destination for moviegoers this April.
