Rehearsals are well underway for Ipswich Musical Theatre Company’s (IMTC) next production, The Phantom of the Opera.

Famously known as the longest running musical on Broadway, ‘Phantom’ is the thrilling and romantic account of a musical genius who dwells deep beneath a majestic opera house in Paris and falls in love with chorus girl Christine while training her to become a singing star.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s score soars with such famous tunes as “Think of Me,” “All I Ask of You,” “The Music of the Night,” and the title song, “The Phantom of the Opera”.

Boasting one of the most recognisable musical motifs in theatre (cue the ominous sound of chords played on an organ), The Phantom of the Opera has become a cultural tour de force and one of the most successful musicals of all time.

IMTC’s production of this well-loved classic will perform for five shows only from September 9 to 17at the Ipswich Civic Centre. Ipswich born and raised Nathan Kneen (an original member of the Ten Tenors) plays the role of the Phantom, while talented newcomer Bryleigh Parsons-Pope takes on the role of Christine, the young ingenue under his tutelage.

Already the singing talents of the two stars are creating a buzz on social media, where a snippet of them singing the title song, ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ was recently released.

“Our local community has always been so supportive of our shows, and we are thrilled to have a cast of this calibre performing with us. It is a must-see production for young and old, and everyone in between!” said IMTC Artistic Director, Brenda Ryan.
