Steve Irwin Day was started in 2007, a year after his death. The day is about honouring and celebrating the legacy of an Aussie who dedicated his life to the wellbeing of our country’s beautiful native animals.

15 November was a special day for Steve and his family; it’s the birthday of Harriet, the zoo’s 175-year-old Galapagos land tortoise!

Australia Zoo’s Wildlife Warriors program, started by Steve and Terri Irwin in 2002, continues to care for animals and to inspire millions of people around the world to care for their country’s native animals.

Celebrate Steve Irwin Day by scheduling in your next visit to Australia Zoo or download some Crocodile Hunter episodes and relive the magic and dynamism that was Australia’s very own Croc Hunter.

Volunteer at your local wildlife or conservation organisation and donate some of your time to caring for native animals and their habitats – just like Steve did!

Donate to the Wildlife Warriors and take some time to learn about their incredible work.

Best wishes to Terri and family. How we, as a family, loved Steve’s heroism and magical way of sharing his enthusiasm for wildlife conservation. The knowledge he shared was invaluable and we never missed an episode he shared with us in England. Thank you – he is great;y missed as there is none other quite like Steve.
