Ipswich City Councillor David Martin provided updates on Division 4’s latest projects and community highlights in his first 2025 check-in.
A key development is the completion of a 30-meter footpath extension on Rosewood School Street. The project, funded through the Division 4 Provisional Projects program, ensures a safer and more convenient route for students and parents walking between the school’s main entrance and car park. “It’s a simple but important improvement,” Cr Martin said. “No more wet feet on dewy mornings.”
Meanwhile, the much-anticipated upgrade of the Karabin Street intersection near West Moreton Anglican College has faced delays. Originally scheduled for completion before the school year started, the installation of traffic signals is now expected by the end of the Easter holidays. “It’s a high-traffic area, especially at drop-off and pick-up times, so this upgrade will be a huge benefit,” Cr Martin explained.
On the community front, Cr Martin recently visited the Ipswich Woodcrafters Club, which meets four days a week and showcases handcrafted items at the Ipswich Show. “They do incredible work, from wood burning to carving, and they’re always welcoming new members,” he said.
He also attended the Lions Club of Rosewood’s Citizen of the Year announcement, where long-time volunteer received the honour. “She’s an incredible community member, dedicating her time to the Rosewood Op Shop and other local initiatives,” Cr Martin said.
Finally, the Ipswich Laps event brought life to the city’s top end, with classic cars and bustling businesses. “It’s great to see our local shops thriving and people enjoying the event,” Cr Martin said.
