Ipswich theatre lovers are in for a gothic treat as Swich Up Productions presents Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical at the Ipswich Civic Centre. With just four performances, this dark and dramatic show promises stunning vocals, gripping storytelling, and a hauntingly beautiful score.
Directed by the talented Timothy Wynn, the production features Matt Leigh in the demanding dual role of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, a performance that has already impressed insiders. “His voice is like butter into your ears,” said producer Adrian Carr, adding that the show’s gothic elements are reminiscent of Phantom of the Opera.
A Show Like No Other
Unlike traditional musicals often staged in Ipswich, Jekyll & Hyde brings something fresh to the local scene. “We wanted to do something different—not another Disney or classic,” Carr said. “We were worried about ticket sales, but it’s going gangbusters.”
The show also features standout performances from Samantha Sherrin and Nikita O’Keefe, playing the romantic leads caught between Jekyll and his sinister alter ego, Hyde.
Music lovers will recognise hits like This Is the Moment, a song popularised by Anthony Warlow, but few realise it originates from this chilling musical.
A Must-See Event
With an impressive live orchestra, immersive set designs, and professional-level talent, Jekyll & Hyde is set to be Ipswich’s biggest musical production of the year.
