Limelight Cinemas is undergoing an exciting transformation as part of a major refurbishment, set to enhance the movie-going experience in Ipswich. Lex, a representative of Limelight Cinemas, shared updates during a podcast appearance, revealing the progress of their renovations, which are well underway.

“We’re about 80% done with our lounge, soon to be known as the Gold Lounge,” Lex said. “Our balcony cafe and bar are also getting a facelift. It’s going to be a fantastic spot to grab a cocktail, enjoy the Bremer River view, and then head into a movie.” The upgrades promise to bring a modern touch to Ipswich’s beloved independent cinema, with revamped facilities expected to elevate both comfort and convenience for moviegoers.

In the meantime, the cinema is treating audiences to a range of exciting film releases and classic movie marathons. The ever-popular Harry Potter series continues to enchant fans, with Goblet of Fire next on the schedule as part of Limelight’s “Back to Hogwarts” screenings.

For those in the mood for a different kind of nostalgia, Limelight’s “Timeless Treasures” series has been a hit, offering a chance to see Hollywood classics on the big screen. This week’s feature is the iconic Casablanca, following last week’s screening of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. “Next week, we’ve got The Sound of Music—a personal favorite of mine,” Lex shared.

Horror fans, too, have something to look forward to with Smile 2 hitting the screens. The sequel promises even more terrifying smiles and chilling moments, following a global pop star haunted by eerie, smiling figures.

As Limelight Cinemas moves forward with its refurbishments, locals can continue to enjoy a stellar line-up of films in a refreshed, welcoming space.
