Ipswich residents struggling with cost-of-living pressures and disaster relief will benefit from a new food distribution hub, thanks to a $325,000 funding commitment from the LNP.
LNP candidate for Blair, Carl Mutzelburg, announced the funding for Ipswich Assist, a local not-for-profit that provides essential support to those in need.
“From my discussions with Blair residents, it’s clear that Labor’s cost-of-living crisis is out of control, which is why we need a charitable food distribution hub here in Ipswich,” Mutzelburg said.
The new food hub will help local residents and ease pressure on other stretched charitable organisations by ensuring better access to food relief and storage facilities.
“I believe in giving a helping hand to residents doing it tough, which is why I’ve fought to secure this funding commitment,” he added.
Backing Community Support
Senator Paul Scarr praised Mutzelburg’s track record in community service, highlighting his experience running a charity that provided food parcels, flood relief, and financial literacy programs.
“With more than three out of four households in the Ipswich and Somerset region under financial stress, Carl is the right candidate for Blair in these difficult times,” Scarr said.
Ipswich Assist manager Jason Budden welcomed the funding, stating that it would allow the organisation to expand storage capacity and enhance food distribution services for charities across Ipswich.
“Ipswich Assist is grateful to LNP candidate Carl Mutzelburg and Senator Scarr for their commitment to helping charities in Ipswich,” Budden said.
The commitment is part of the LNP’s broader plan to strengthen local communities and provide direct relief to those facing financial hardship.
