Goodna Special School, Kruger State School, and Collingwood Park State School are among the latest beneficiaries of the Miles Government’s Eat Right, Play Right, Learn Well program, receiving significant funding for essential upgrades.
Launched in 2022, the initiative aims to promote healthier lifestyles and improve learning environments.

Over $1 Million Allocated to Bundamba Schools
In the latest round of funding, over $1 million has been allocated to local Bundamba schools for playground and tuckshop enhancements.
Goodna Special School will receive $492,200 to install a new, fit-for-purpose tuckshop. Kruger State School has been granted $465,000 for refurbishing their tuckshop and upgrading facilities.
Collingwood Park State School will use $104,305 to restore their junior playground.
Statewide Impact of the Eat Right, Play Right, Learn Well Program
A total of 277 state schools will share in the latest funding round of $101 million. Since June 2023, 418 state schools have benefited from the program, which allows schools to apply for up to $500,000.
The funding covers playground upgrades, including soft fall surfacing and shade structures, and tuckshop improvements such as new appliances, equipment, and benchtops.
Promoting Healthy Behaviors and Active Play
The Eat Right, Play Right, Learn Well program supports schools in promoting healthy eating and active play, aiming to enhance physical, social, and emotional health among students.
Member for Bundamba Lance McCallum highlighted the broader benefits of this investment, stating, “This investment will deliver more than just better playgrounds and tuckshops but will help our local kids lead healthier lives in the most critical phase of their development.”
Education Minister Di Farmer also emphasized the importance of the initiative, noting, “The benefits of physical activity on physical, social, and emotional health are well known and undoubtedly contribute to better learning outcomes.”
Successful Schools Announced in Three Tranches
The program’s funding recipients were announced in three stages:
- Tranche 1: 60 successful schools in June 2023.
- Tranche 2: 90 successful schools in August 2023.
- Tranche 3: 277 successful schools in May 2024.
Congratulations to the 418 schools awarded funding for 427 projects, enhancing learning environments and promoting healthier lifestyles for students across Queensland.
