Ipswich City Council has announced two major community projects set to begin in October, with night roadworks in Ripley and a playground upgrade in Willowbank.
From 1 October to 31 October, nightworks will be carried out at the Ripley Road and Reif Street intersection between 7pm and 5am. The works include electrical and telecommunication relocations and upgrades, paving the way for future widening of the intersection and the installation of traffic lights to improve access to the Cunningham Highway.
Council has advised motorists to expect changed traffic conditions throughout the month and thanked the community for its patience. Further details are available via the Civic Projects Map on Council’s website.
Meanwhile, at Heit Family Park in Willowbank, work will soon begin on the installation of a new shade sail over the playground. The project is scheduled to start on 20 October and finish by 7 November, weather permitting.
The upgrade aims to improve year-round usability of the playground by enhancing sun safety for families and children. The park’s playground will be temporarily closed during the installation, and nearby residents may notice increased noise from vehicles and machinery.
The project is part of Council’s $17 million investment in parks, sport and the environment in the 2025–2026 Budget.
Council says the improvements will deliver lasting benefits for the community and has asked residents and visitors for their understanding while the works are underway.
