And on the line this morning, Senior Constable Shantelle Dowell. How are you? Good. How are you? I am exceptionally well. And well, all I can say is, thank goodness it’s Monday. I know most people say thank God it’s Friday, but I wanted to be different. Well, when you have kids, you know, someday they’re back at school, right? Well, that’s right. So you can cheer and holler and go, yay, another five days. I know. Now, of course, you’ve got some community safety workshops coming up for seniors.

Yeah, the Ipswich District Crime Prevention Unit, we’re assisting Ipswich City Council in the delivery of community safety workshops for seniors at various locations across the Ipswich District. That is great and of course there are three workshops I believe throughout the month of June. Yeah. With the topics including crime prevention and personal safety, reducing social isolation and loneliness and disaster preparedness, all very important topics for our seniors.

The community safety workshops aim to engage seniors to build self-confidence while providing an opportunity to gain information to empower themselves and to learn how to feel safe and secure in the community. Clinical Psychology at the University of Queensland, and Annabel Johnston, the Human and Social Recovery and Resilience Project Lead for the Ipswich City Council. Fantastic, all very versed in what they’re gonna be talking about and covering in all of those topics. Now, there is a selection of the workshops, so where and when are they happening? Yeah, so the first one’s on Wednesday, the 5th of June. It’s from 10 till 12.30 at the Redbank Plains Community Centre, 180 School Road, Redbank Plains.

The second one is Wednesday the 12th of June from 10 till 1230 at the Rosewood Library 15 Railway Street Rosewood and the third one is being held on June 19 from 10 till 1230 at the event space 1, 1 Nicholas Street Ipswich that’s in the new mall. All right and then of course that’s spread right across Ipswich so that you’ll be able to get to one of them won’t you? Yeah 100%. Exactly and of course the other good news is light refreshments are going to be provided.
