Shayne NeumaFederal Member for Blair, Shayne Neumann, has been re-elected for a record seventh term following Saturday’s federal election, with a strong lead of over 11,000 votes and a 0.7% swing towards Labor.

Mr Neumann described the result as humbling, thanking the community for their ongoing support. “It’s an honour to serve the region where my family has lived for seven generations,” he said.

The federal election result marks a historic shift, with the Albanese Labor Government returning with the biggest majority since 1943, and for the first time ever, an Opposition Leader losing their seat.

Locally, Mr Neumann credited his campaign’s success to a strong focus on cost-of-living relief and community infrastructure. “We offered a clear plan—free TAFE, affordable housing, fully funded schools, stronger Medicare—and the voters responded,” he said.

Looking ahead, Mr Neumann is prioritising delivery of key projects in Blair, including the $134.5 million Mount Crosby Interchange, upgrades to the Bremer River Bridge, and progress on the $200 million Amberley Interchange, pending state government matching funds.

Other commitments include a new Headspace mental health centre in Redbank Plains, a cultural centre for the Indian community, sporting upgrades across Ripley Valley, Lowood and Ipswich, and expanding the Chuwar Koala Conservation Park.

Mr Neumann also reiterated his commitment to community engagement. “Helping people is the most satisfying part of my job,” he said, promising to continue mobile offices, attend local shows, and stay accessible to constituents.

He also encouraged Ipswich City Council to revisit restrictions on election signage, calling for a return to property-only displays.

“It’s going to be an exciting three years, and I’m ready to get to work,” Mr Neumann said.
