Lance McCallum MP, the dedicated Bundamba representative, recently shared some uplifting news on West Bremer Radio’s “State of Play” segment. Speaking from the tropical north, McCallum highlighted several positive developments for the Ipswich community, focusing on energy relief, healthcare investments, and support for veterans.

Starting the new financial year with a boost, McCallum announced the rollout of a thousand-dollar energy rebate for residents, a significant relief to help with the rising cost of living. “I’ve been out in the community in places like Collingwood Park, and people have already started seeing the thousand-dollar rebate on their electricity bills,” McCallum shared. Additionally, an extra $300 from the Albanese government and $372 for seniors, pensioners, and concession cardholders further enhance this financial support.

McCallum emphasized the importance of health and well-being in the rapidly growing Ipswich region, particularly through the investment in the West Moreton community. The recently opened Ripley Satellite Hospital now boasts a state-of-the-art CT scanner, which will perform over 14,000 scans annually. This new facility provides high-quality healthcare close to home, reducing the need for trips to the Ipswich Hospital and significantly cutting down elective surgery waiting lists.

In another noteworthy initiative, McCallum discussed a new program supporting Ipswich veterans. In collaboration with Wounded Heroes, the Food for Heroes program offers paid employment and skills training. This initiative, supported by a $400,000 grant, provides veterans and their families with hospitality training at the Ipswich Turf Club, aiming to get them back into the workforce while also preparing free meals for veterans in crisis.

McCallum also responded to concerns about infrastructure raised by Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding. He highlighted the substantial investments made by the Miles Labor Government in the region, including new hospitals, schools, and public transport upgrades. He emphasized that while state investment is strong, local council projects, like the prolonged upgrade of Red Bank Plains Road, need to be completed to benefit residents fully.

Lance McCallum MP’s updates reflect a concerted effort to support Ipswich residents through energy relief, healthcare improvements, and employment programs, showcasing a commitment to enhancing the quality of life in the community.
