Ipswich is gearing up for a vibrant Australia Day with events and activities for residents of all ages, including free access to city pools and exciting exhibitions.

Australia Day Awards
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding expressed her excitement for the 2025 Ipswich Australia Day Awards, where the city will honuor its most inspiring citizens. “These awards celebrate the incredible community spirit of Ipswich, showcasing selfless individuals and groups who make our city great,” said Mayor Harding. Free Pool Access
On Sunday, January 26, residents can cool off for free at council-operated swim centres, including Bundamba Swim Centre, Goodna Aquatic Centre, and Rosewood Aquatic Centre, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mayor Harding noted, “This tradition is a wonderful way for families to celebrate the day together.” Year-round free access is also available at Orion Lagoon.

School Holiday Activities
As the school holidays wind down, Ipswich offers a range of free activities to keep kids entertained. From Lego workshops and drone adventures at local libraries to outdoor fun at the newly upgraded Colleges Crossing and Cameron Park, there’s something for everyone. Mayor Harding also highlighted the Queensland Museum Railway Workshops, offering a delightful Thomas the Tank Engine experience for families.

Art Exhibition: Paper and Clay
Art enthusiasts can visit the Community Art Gallery for the Paper and Clay exhibition, running until this Sunday. Mayor Harding described the exhibit as “a striking architectural collaboration” showcasing paper art and industrial ceramics.
